DesignChef UX Challenge Overview, Rules and Deliverables
Rules
- The first DesignChef UX Challenge will involve creating a User Flow and Wireframes for a certain set of tasks users will be accomplishing on the site.
- You will be able to register and upload your submissions on the site from July 1st to August 1st.
- You can submit multiple entries.
- A panel of experts will judge all submissions.
- Winners will be announced on Aug 5th.
- Although the competition is open to anyone, only users from India are eligible for prizes.
User Tasks
- View details (including prizes, rules, dates, etc...) for past, present and future Logo Design and User Experience design competitions.
- Allow users to submit, view & manage their entries across competitions.
- View, rate and discuss other user's entries across competitions.
Deliverables
- User Flows for the user tasks mentioned above
- Wireframes based on the user flows for the tasks above. You can develop WireFrames using the software of your choice (though we highly recommend Balsamiq, iPlotz or Axure). Alternatively you can use Visio, PPT, Illustrator, pen and paper, whatever you are comfortable with.
- A Wireframe for an updated homepage based on the objectives and scenarios below
- A presentation explaining the design process followed by you.

Design Chef Objectives
Scenario 1: Sunil Student
Sunil is a student of a reputed design institute. He has participated in many competitions organised by the institute and even won a few of them. He learned about the DesignChef logo challenge through one of his friends on Orkut and wants to participate in the contest. He knows if he wins, he will receive recognition from his peers and some cool prizes. He is also motivated by the fact that participating in the contest will add to his credentials and help his career prospects.
Scenario 2: Prateek Professional
Prateek works as a UI developer with a reputed company. He has developed user interfaces in HTML/CSS/Javascript for almost three years now. Prateek has observed the UX team design interfaces using user centered design principles and wants to get more involved on the UX design side. He needs his manager to notice his potential which he feels cannot be done while on job. He finds out about DesignChef on a friend's blog and immediately wants to partcipate. He believes participation in the UX challenge will let his manager know his potential and help him move closer to his goal of becoming a UX designer.
